Unfortunately February didn't start off so great for the Belt twins. :( Flu season hit our house. Randy was the first to get sick. He started getting sick in the last couple of days of January. It was so sad, he started with a cough, then a fever, and then he started wheezing. I was really scared because just prior to this, my nephew who is 7 weeks younger than the twins, was hospitalized with RSV. So I was hoping that was not what he had. So on Monday, January 31 I took Randy to the pediatrician to see what he had. Dr. Brar looked at him and immediately saw that he wasn't doing well and was having a difficult time breathing. So they gave him a breathing treatment. After that, Dr. came in and listened to his lungs and still wasn't happy with what he heard so he gave him a shot to open up his bronchioles. Randy was diagnosed with Bronchiolitis and an upper respiratory infection. So we went home and did what the doctor said to do: give him his meds. and use the inhaler and humidifier. Well, the next day Randy seemed to be worse. I was worried that he was going to end up in the hospital so I took him back to the pediatrician. Fortunately he didn't have to be sent to the hospital, but he got another shot. This one was to take care of the infection, and we were sent home with antibiotics to give for the next 10 days. The next day, thankfully, Randy seemed to start feeling better! It was so nice to see that!
In the mean time, we did what we could to keep Randy away from Lexy so that she wouldn't get what he had. But after about 5 days, Lexy got it. Fortunately it wasn't as bad. She started coughing and then 2 days later she started wheezing and the Dr. gave her a breathing treatment and sent me home with some medication and an inhaler.
The twins seem to be doing much better now! Thankfully!! I just took them to the pediatrician for their follow up and he said they both look good and just to use the inhalers for another week! And now that they are better, it's mom's turn to get it! Yep, now I have it, but to tell you the truth, I'm not sure I got it from them or from students in my class. Everybody has this yucky bug!! I just hope and pray that Brandon stays well and the babies don't get sick again!
Well, a few things have happened with the twins in the last couple of weeks. First of all, I can't believe they are 5 months already!! They are getting to be so much fun! They love to play and laugh and giggle! It is so cute and those of you who really know me, know that I'm doing everything thing I can to catch it all on camera! LOL!
New things that the twins are doing:
- We tried Gerber baby food with them for the first time last week. The pediatrician told us to try feeding them some more solid foods when they turned 5 months because of their problems with spitting up. I fed randy Squash and bananas on Friday, February 11. He LOVED it!! My boy is definitely ready for real food!! Don't get me wrong, he does love his bottle, but he's been eyeing food for a couple of weeks now! It's too funny! And then the following day I fed him green beans. He liked those too. As for Lexy, I gave her sweet potatoes on Saturday, she had a few bites, liked it at the beginning and then started gagging. She did not like it! I don't think my Lexy Love is ready for food yet. She is just now starting to like her formula, since we've had to change so many times at the beginning. And she absolutely LOVES it when we put cereal in it. So that's what she gets just about every feeding! I definitely enjoyed feeding them their first solids. It was funny to watch their facial expressions when they got that first taste of something new!

Lexy waiting to try her new food! (didn't like it though!)
Yummy, Yummy, Randy eating Squash!!
- As for this month, Randy is starting the month weighing a little over 16 lbs and Lexy, my little one, weighs about 13 1/2 lbs. What a difference 3lbs makes in babies. It's funny that they are like this, because Lexy was the big one at birth and Randy was the little one. They are both starting to wear 3-6 month clothes, but still fit into a lot of their 0-3 month clothes, especially my little Lexy!
- Randy rolled over onto his tummy for the first time on Tuesday, February 8. He did it when he was in his crib and Christina (my cousin, their babysitter) found him on his tummy. Then he did it again the next day and I found him sleeping on his tummy. Now he is going to town rolling over on his tummy. I finally got to see him do it it this weekend. Lexy has been rolling over for awhile now. She loves laying on her tummy. Both of them love sleeping on their tummies! Tummy time is a fun time at the Belt house!
